The preparation is used to restore the acid-base balance in the stomach and intestines. It also has a beneficial effect in the case of established gastrointestinal pathologies. It helps to reduce the harmful effects of stress.

In a healthy horse, the homeostasis of the stomach, the anatomical and functional integrity of the digestive tract, is a delicate balance. When this is disrupted by external or internal factors, gastric acid can attack the gastric mucosa, causing gastric problems, ulcers and, in the most severe cases, gastric perforation.

Gastric ulcer (EGUS - Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome) is the result of a combination of factors, including feeding, housing conditions, racing, stress and inappropriate use of anti-inflammatory drugs. This problem can occur at any age, even in the first months of a foal's life.

Composition: Water, glucose, polysorbate 80, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, glycerol, sodium chloride, Olea europaea leaf extract, citric acid, Aloe ferox et Aloe vera leaf juice (0,2%), Althaea officinalis root dry extract, Foeniculum vulgare dulce fruit oil, Echinacea angustifolia root liquid extract, Malva sylvestris leaf oil, Solum fullonum.

- INFORMATION - EGUS (Equine Gastric Ulcer Sindrome)

An ulcer is a break in the continuity of the stomach lining, characterised by slow, difficult healing or no healing.

A peptic ulcer occurs when an ulcer develops in the stomach or duodenum on the mucous membrane lining the inside of the alimentary canal. Depending on where it occurs, it can be an oesophageal, gastric or duodenal ulcer.

Triggering factors include chronic stress, prolonged use of anti-inflammatory drugs without the use of stomach protectants, irritating toxins in feed, improper feeding (e.g. prolonged fasting, feeding too much grain, lack of fibre) and intense exercise.

Ulcerative colitis is subtype and difficult to diagnose as symptoms are often non-specific. A horse suffering from ulcer syndrome usually shows a lack of appetite, constant pain, signs of aggressiveness, irritability, reduced activity, lack of work drive. Weight loss is usually observed, the coat is shiny and coarse. Foals may also show symptoms other than the above: colic after sucking/feeding, restlessness, lying on their back, grinding of teeth, drooling, intermittent sucking, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, reflux.

THE EFFECT of pHiloGASTRO®
The efficacy of pHiloGASTRO® in the treatment of EGUS has been demonstrated in a population of 19 horses (F. Bonelli et al., 2016, Journal of Equine Veterinary Science). Animals were subjected to gastroscopy before and six weeks after the application of the phytotherapy treatment. The gastric lesions of the animals treated with pHiloGASTRO® (10/19) improved compared to the placebo group (9/19). pHiloGASTRO® has an active and beneficial effect on gastric lesions.

Dosage:

For mature horses: 60 ml twice daily at feeding time for at least one month. As a preventive and/or maintenance dose 60 ml once daily.
For foals:60 ml once a day for at least a month

Can be used in combination with medication. If used for more than 6 months, consult your veterinarian before continuing use beyond 6 months.

Storage of: keep in a dry, cool place at a temperature between 10-20 C, protected from moisture, away from heat and light sources. Seal after use. Keeps its quality for the time indicated on the packaging.
